Tympanometry Testing
Checking The Health Of Your Eardrums

Tympanometry is a test used to measure the movement of the eardrum. It is often used to screen for middle ear infections and can also help to diagnose other problems with the middle ear, such as fluid accumulation or perforated eardrums.

There are many benefits to Tympanometry Testing. Some of the most common benefits include:

  • It can provide quantitative information about the presence of fluid in the middle ear
  • It can help doctors determine if there is an infection in the middle ear, known as otitis media
  • It can help identify a tear in the tympanic membrane
  • It can indicate if there is a problem with the eustachian tube

If you are experiencing any problems with your middle ear, please contact us today for more information about this test.

Our Expertise In Tympanometry Testing

At our clinic, we are experienced in providing Auditory Brainstem Response Testing (ABR). We have a team of audiologists who are specially trained to administer and interpret the test results.

If your child is found to have hearing loss, our audiologists will work with you to create a treatment plan that is tailored to your child’s needs.

To schedule an appointment, please call our office today! We would be happy to help you get started on your journey to better hearing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tympanometry determines how well your eardrum moves. The audiologist will insert a tiny probe, which resembles an earbud, into each ear. Air will be injected into your ear with the help of a small gadget linked to the probe. By analyzing the sound waves that are emitted, your audiologist can measure the mobility of your eardrum and determine if it is functioning properly.

A normal volume range for children is 0.5 to 1.5 cc, whereas adult patients require a 0.5 to 2.00 cc range.

The following are examples of things that tympanometry may be used to analyze or rule out: fluid in the middle ear, a middle ear infection, a perforated eardrum (a hole), or a Eustachian tube impairment.
